Snow Possibility...

(UPDATE: 11/20/15 at 8:32 am) No snow yet!  Looks like classes will run as planned.

Here is the current local advisory:

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY:

Issued at: 7:21 am CST on November 20, 2015, expires at: 3:00 AM CST on November 21, 2015

...Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 3 am CST Saturday...

timing...a mix of rain and snow will develop by mid afternoon...becoming all snow this evening. The snow will continue through the evening...ending after midnight.

Accumulations...total snowfall of 1 to 4 inches is expected.

Other impacts...visibilities may drop to less than a half mile at times in snow...and roadways are expected to become snow covered this evening. Travel may be impacted. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving.

Looks like snow is in the forecast!  Just a reminder going forward, if Council Bluffs schools close, we will cancel co-op classes.  If the schools are open, but the roads are slippery, we could still cancel.  We will make that call in the morning and post all information here on the website and on Facebook.

Mindfful Mom's Night - Tuesday 11/10/15

Mindful Mom Members will be gathering at Stokes in the Old Market at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015

While there is no doubt we love spending time with our children {isn't that why we homeschool?!}, we are looking forward to an evening without potty interruptions, sticky fingers, and sibling quarrels.  With that said, only nursing babies are allowed to join the Moms on this night.  So, get a sitter and come join us for some good old fashioned face time.

NOTE: This year, we are going to try something a little different...

INSTEAD OF AN RSVP FORM, please comment below if you plan to attend.  By doing it this way, everyone can see who is planning to be there.

--------------- It is IMPORTANT that you comment below because it has always been our "unwritten rule" that if one or more person(s) (other than one of the founding members) plans to attend, we will be sure to have at least one founding member available to attend, so that the Mom's Night Out still goes on as planned.  If there is no response, there is a chance that the founding members will not show up, thereby cancelling the outing entirely.  We do not want to leave anyone stranded.  So, please, it is important that you comment below if you would like to attend.  Also, we have a large group of women this year, just over 50 families. This could mean that we need to make a reservation for large group gatherings, and/or the places we visit may need to set aside a room to accommodate such a rowdy group. --------------

We are all busy moms, no doubt about that!  We ask that you please be 'mindful' of everyone's time and simply comment below if you plan to join us or even if you are on the fence about going, just join the conversation!

*** If this system does not work, we will go back to using the RSVP form.  If you have any problems, posting a comment below or have questions about this event, simply send us an email at MindfulLearningCenter@gmail.com

Look forward to seeing you there!  For those of you who have never attended, Mom's Night has always been memorable, full of laughter, and down-right deserved!!!

This event is now on our CALENDAR.

Skatedaze Field Trip - 11/13/15

This Friday, MLC members are invited to a FUN field trip!  We will be at Skatedaze from 10am-3pm.  It is located at 3616 South 132nd Street in Omaha.

At Skatedaze, there is truly something for every age!  There is a super "Playdazium" for children under 10 (great for toddlers), bouce houses, roller skating and arcade games for everyone, bumper cars, laser tag, a simulator ride and much more!  Moms are able to chat and have a good time, too!  Moms are allowed to walk on the roller skating rink if their children need assistance.  Skatedaze is completely set up for a fun family-friendly experience for all ages.

NOTE: Kids must wear SOCKS if playing in the playdazium!

Admission is $5 per child ages 1-18 (under 12 mos is free)
Adults are $2 if not skating, $5 if skating
Some attractions cost extra.
Food is not included, but they have a very nice and reasonable concession stand with everything from Nachos to Grilled Chicken Sandwhiches.

Feel free to come at anytime between 10 and 3.  However, we can't guarantee everyone will be up for staying until 3, so probably better to come earlier!

For more information about Skatedaze, please visit their website at http://www.skatedaze.com/index.php

**************NOTE****************
Due to the possibility of a large sized group, the staff has asked us that we give them a 'ballpark' attendance number so that they may be properly staffed for our visit.  It is NOT necessary that you RSVP to attend this field trip.  However, if you THINK you might like to attend, please RSVP below (on the website) so that we may give the Skatedaze staff a fairly accurate headcount by Wednesday, if possible.

If you are reading this post in an email form, you must click on the link (the title) to go to the MLC website to use the RSVP form.  Thank you.

Announcements 10.30.15

We've learned that St. Paul's Lutheran Church does its weekly cleaning on Thursdays. So, however we leave the building when we're done on Friday is how their congregation will find it when they arrive for Sunday services. With that in mind, we're gently reminding and asking all of our members to be mindful of how we impact the building while we're using it. If everyone is conscious of keeping things tidy as we go, watching for trash on the floor, pushing in chairs in the classrooms and in the Fellowship Hall as we leave, etc., it will help us be respectful of our generous hosts at St. Paul's.

There may be a few painting projects in Crafts time as the year goes on. If you're able to donate one or more old adult-sized t-shirts for use as painting shirts, we'd be grateful.

Last week, a long-sleeved white athletic tee with green stripes down the sleeves was left behind in the fellowship hall. As we left this week, it was still hanging on the coat rack. If it's yours, please pick it up next time you're at MLC.

A few quick CALENDAR reminders:
